London Blasts

My heart goes out to the victims (and their families) of the blasts in London today.

The Philippines has had its share of terrorist attacks and the same questions resonate in my mind now as they did then.

"Why?" Hundreds of innocent victims killed and injured all in the name of what?

"What for?" The victims are ordinary working class citizens, going about their daily routines, not leaders..

Mindless violence, pointless killing. For countries who have been victims of terrorist acts, to whom do we retaliate? Do we know the face of terror? (US Pres. Bush seemed to know the answer to this but I'd rather not ask him)

That's why terror is such a frightening thing, it bears no face, no allegiance to any country or cause. It hides every reason imaginable for mindless violence.

I agree with London Mayor Ken Livingstone who put it succinctly,

This was not a terrorist attack against the mighty or the powerful, it is not aimed at presidents or prime ministers, it was aimed at ordinary working-class Londoners. That isn’t an ideology, it isn’t even a perverted faith, it’s mass murder.
