Playing Auntie

Since I don't have kids, I'm the all-around Auntie to my friends' children. Cheryl has no children. My sisters do not have children. YET. But my friend Ems has 2 darling little angels who are growing up so fast!

Despite everything Ems, you do have a lot to be thankful for. :D

Hot Summer Days

Ugghh... Summer is here. That statement does not come with a smiley either.

The other day, the temp was nearing 38C (100F). Yipes! No wonder there were reports of people just collapsing from heat exhaustion.

There are several things you must to avoid heat stroke (which can be fatal). When you feel exhausted from the heat, you must (i got this from the Dept of Health):
1. sip water for an hour or so
2. loosen clothing
3. lie down and raise feet eight to ten inches high
4. apply cool, wet cloths
5. move to a cool place (not freezing or cold)

Chikka

"Chika" is a Tagalog slang that means "chit-chat". I think it originated as homospeak which became slang. "Homo" in Filipino would mean "homosexual" rather than the scientific "homo" as in "sapiens". :D

Now, the common chitchat "chika" has been elevated to another level. Thanks to a company named Chikka, people can now send SMS from a PC to a cellphone. You can even send (cheaper) MMS! In the Philippines, cellphone operators usually chage 5 to 10pesos per MMS sent. Chikka only charges 2.50 pesos. And USD1 = 55 Phil pesos. You do the math... :D

In case you haven't noticed, Filipinos are crazy about cellphones. They know more about Nokia's phone model permutations than they do the multiplcation table. Don't know why, really. Personally, I have given up since I bought a Nokia 6600. :D

Back to Chikka. This is really cool because you can text (send SMS) to your friends in the US, Japan, Thailand, etc. For more info on Chikka, check out their website link.

I'm always a sucker for good sentimental songs. Even if they are from boybands. I don't hate boybands, especially if the members are cute hehe.

I love the song Guilty because it conjures images of lovesick cute boys. I mean, I don't know if there are guys out there who can truly sincerely say that yes, they are in love. And yes, the love is unrequited because they are just too pretty hahaha!

I'm sick, I know. It's fun though.
